Time Frame: 2 class periods
Television has changed in many major ways over time. Not only have the capabilities of television changed, but also television programming has changed drastically in recent years with the introduction of Reality TV shows.
Performance Task: Using the websites below, you will research the pros and cons of children watching Reality TV shows. Using spreadsheet software like Excel, you will create a simple spreadsheet that provides information about the pros and cons of watching Reality TV. Finally, you will use presentation software like Power Point to create a simple presentation to highlight your findings.
Directions:

1. Using the websites below, conduct research on the impact of Reality TV shows.
   
2. Create a simple spreadsheet to highlight the pros and cons of Reality TV.
   
3. Create a simple presentation highlighting your findings.

Your spreadsheet must contain the following:

• Include a Title/Header with the title Pros vs. Cons of Reality TV
  
• Four Columns
  
  •   First column should be titled Reality Show I Watch. In the row under it, include the name of a Reality TV show that you watch. In the three rows under the name, list 3 reasons why you like it
    
  •   Second column should be titled Reality Show I Don’t Watch. In the row under it, include the name of a Reality TV show that you do not watch. In three rows under it, list 3 reasons why you do not watch it.
    
  •   Third column should be titled Pros and list 3-5 positives that can come from watching Reality TV based on information from the websites.
    
  •   Fourth column should be titled Cons and list 3-5 negatives that can come from watching Reality TV based on information from the websites.
    Presentation:
    Your PowerPoint presentation must contain the following:
    

• A theme of your choice
  
• The font Century Schoolbook
  
• Transitions of your choice between slides
  
• Animation to your pictures/graphics/clip art ONLY!
  
• Title slide – Title of your presentation (6th Grade Technology Assessment), your first and last name, HR teacher’s name, and date (24 pt.)
  
• Slide #2 - should contain the title Pros of Reality TV. Under it, list two pros of Reality TV (20 pt.). Include one graphic/picture/clip art.
  
• Slide #3 - should contain the title Cons of Reality TV. Under it, list two cons of Reality TV (20 pt.). Include one graphic/picture/clip art.
  
• Slide #4 – should contain the title Thoughts about Reality TV. Under it, provide an example of a current Reality TV show, the factors that influenced the concepts of that show, and compare it to a show from the past (not a Reality TV show) with a similar concept. (20 pt.)
